Innovative progression

The microelectronics’ world has moved in cycles of feast and famine since the first transistor was formed back in the 1940’s. At the nadir of each cycle, industry observers start to look for the next killer application that will drive electronic production to the next stratospheric zenith. Traditionally this has been found in basic semiconductor applications with the personal computer and mobile phones being two major driving applications in the last 30 years. With the emerging opportunities in new fields and with new technologies the next killer application is less likely to come from pure semiconductor manufacturing but rather from one of the emerging fields of MEMS, nanotechnology or devices using the latest system integration techniques.

For this reason the publisher’s of MicroNanoSystems have chosen to showcase a select number of innovators in these fields
